Frequently asked questions

What is the Mesothelioma Health Network?

The Mesothelioma Health Network is a network of health professionals in the field of mesothelioma diagnosis, treatment and care across Canada who share knowledge and expertise to strengthen the Canadian response to mesothelioma. This network of clinicians, researchers and frontline healthcare providers is committed to changing the experience of mesothelioma patients and their families by increasing access to services, improving their care and moving scientific gains quickly into clinical and prevention practice.

Why do we need the Mesothelioma Health Network?

We have often heard from patients and families across our country that they have no idea where to turn for treatment or that they have experienced long delays in either determining their diagnosis or accessing treatment. This network brings together experts in mesothelioma to share knowledge as well as provide an educational forum for front-line health-care workers.

How does the Mesothelioma Health Network work?

The Network is a voluntary organization without any fees. Day-to-day operation of the Network is administered by a project coordinator, working on contract with the CMF. A scientific advisory committee provides guidance and strategic oversight to the Network.

What does membership look like?

To become a member of the Network, you must be a clinician or healthcare professional, a researcher, or an organisation with an interest in mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. To join, you must complete the Membership Application Form and submit. Once your application has been approved and your account has been activated, you will be able to log in and post questions, share news and events, or view the Member Directory to find out more about the community.

What are the benefits of membership?

Once your account has been activated, you can post questions, news, events and job opportunities. Members can also view the Member Directory to find out more about the mesothelioma practitioner community in Canada and to connect with others via discussion groups. The biggest benefit of membership comes from networking with other members and learning from our professional development and educational opportunities.

Can I look at the Members Directory?

The Mesothelioma Health Network Member Directory provides a list of current members, including a brief profile and contact information. The Directory is available only to registered members of the Network. Log in to view the Member Directory.
